🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day, BUHSD!

Today, we celebrate and recognize the hard work, contributions, and achievements of American workers - including the educators, staff, and support teams who work every day to help our students succeed.

Did you know? Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, following decades of workers organizing for better working conditions, fair wages, and reasonable work hours.

As we enjoy this day, we’re grateful for the many people whose dedication and hard work help make our schools and communities stronger.

Have a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved Labor Day!

📅 Reminder: BUHSD is closed today, September 7, and schools will resume Tuesday, September 8.

To ensure smooth parking at the school, all drivers must secure a parking pass by August 31st. The cost for the entire academic year is $70. However, if you're graduating early, the fee is reduced to $35. Students coming from West-MEC are exempt from purchasing a new pass; they should simply display their West-MEC parking pass in their vehicle window. Remember, the deadline to have this sorted is August 31st, and passes can be conveniently purchased at the bookstore. Make sure to adhere to these guidelines to avoid any parking issues.

Dear Roughrider Families,
We hope you are having a great start to the school year!
We recently discovered that some families have not yet completed their Annual Verification in ParentVUE for the 2026–2027 school year. This quick process helps us maintain accurate contact and student information.
Please be aware that beginning August 27, 2026, parents who have not completed the verification process will no longer have access to their ParentVUE account until the verification is submitted.
Getting this completed is easy:
✅ Log in to ParentVUE
✅ Open the Enrollment & Verification App
✅ Review and update any information that has changed
✅ Complete the process for each student in your account
Thank you for taking a few minutes to keep your student’s information current. We appreciate your partnership in supporting our Roughriders!

Denise El Habach, GEAR UP Coach at Youngker High School, attended the National GEAR UP Conference in Washington, D.C., where she had the opportunity to reconnect with two Youngker alumni whose journeys were shaped by the GEAR UP program.

The alumni served on a conference panel, sharing how the guidance, encouragement, and support they received from GEAR UP, and coaches like Denise, helped them navigate high school, prepare for college, and build confidence for their future.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder that the impact of our educators extends far beyond graduation. We are incredibly proud of Denise and our Youngker alumni for representing YHS and demonstrating the lasting difference GEAR UP makes in the lives of students.
