BUCKEYE, AZ β€” Forty-three Youngker High School seniors recently had the opportunity to take a closer look at one of Arizona’s premier honors college experiences during a special workshop with Arizona State University’s Barrett, The Honors College.

On Friday, September 11, Sammie Moran, a representative from ASU Barrett, The Honors College, visited Youngker High School to work directly with seniors interested in learning more about the college and the application process.

The workshop began with an overview of Barrett, including the benefits of participating in an honors college, the Barrett curriculum, and what students can expect from the experience. Students also learned how the program can complement their academic goals as they prepare for life after high school.

Moran then guided students through the Barrett Honors College application step by step, helping seniors understand the application requirements and what they will need to prepare.

The workshop concluded with a hands-on Barrett Essay Workshop. Students reviewed actual essays from previous application cycles, analyzing the writing and reflecting on how they might approach their own Barrett essays.

The experience gave Youngker seniors valuable insight into the college application process while connecting them directly with a representative from a leading Arizona university.

Opportunities like this help prepare BUHSD students to confidently explore their options, pursue their goals, and take their next steps toward their next.
